This blog is intended to enhance the Ware Street football Sunday by promoting discussion, assigning tasks (e.g., the bringing of food and libations), informing the general public of rule changes and new punishments, highlighting outstanding performances and doling out necessary reprimands for actions unbecoming of the football Sunday standards set forth by Thomas Paine, General George S. Patton (U.S. Army-Ret.) and Tom Buhle.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

All I have to say is that Conference Championship Sunday lived up to the hype. While the games may have been somewhat lopsided, the fun-meter was off the charts. Hopefully this was a preview of things to come for Super Bowl XL.

Bill Schwertzke Superfan Award Co-winners - Dustin and Nato

No, hell has not frozen over. While I am as shocked as everyone else, I still do have to give credit where credit is due. In one of his last opportunities of the season, Dustin stepped to plate, shed his bathrobe and his usual Mime-like Football Sunday performance and carried the day along with a rejuvinated Nato.

Despite a strong outing, Kevin Scharpf came up short when he revealed his plan to not drink from the Super Bowl to St. Pattys. Hearing this, Dustin feinted and had to be recitated.

Jennie Finch Award - Nicole Anderson

This has been a long time coming and long overdue for this FS Regular and just reinforces the fact that good things come to those who are patient yet persistent. Nikki's intense performance is sure to go down in Football Sunday lore. Nikki nailed down the award when she told Tom Buelle that if she heard him talking anymore about his fantasy team that she would cut him with her blade. Wow, now that would make for a good Football Sunday story.

Additionally, we have to give Nikki a shout out for getting into Buck's face for his constant habit of ending his sentences in prepositions. This is something that has been bothering everyone all season, though Nikki is the only one with enough courage to finally speak up and confront Buck about it.

Mike Dexter "That Guy" Award - Bucktown

Lets just say that the usually reliable Bucktown didn't have such a great day. Despite a very strong start typically seen by this Football Sunday pioneer, Buck's fortunes took a tragic turn for the worst. In fact, a collapse this bad has not been seen since Greg Norman's final round of the 1997 Masters. When questioned about his performance Buck transformed into Mike Dexter and continually shouted, "I will kick everyone heres ass!" Buck later blamed his performance on some bad glue that he had sniffed beforehand and then on the fact that his hamster had passed away earlier that day. Lets just hope that Btown bounces back for Super Bowl XL.

When asked to comment about Buck's performance, Neil stated, "I don't know what got into him, but he gave me the worst migrane headache of my life. I don't know why people have to scream like that nonstop for hours." We couldn't agree with you more Neil.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego Award - Joe

One of the best day of sports all year and the formerly great Joe is a no-show yet again.

Look for the Where in the World is Joe Niedermeyer boardgame in stores Thanksgiving 2006.

Kobe Bryant bolstered his season average on Sunday night when he scored eighty-one.

Rick Fromberg maintained his season average on Sunday night when he scored zero.
